Current research
My work is mainly focused in understanding the role of the antennal lobe (AL) of Drosophila in the processing of olfactory stimuli.
I have used the Gal4-UAS system to introduce a calcium sensor (G-CaMP) in different populations of AL neurons (sensory neurons, local neuron and projection neurons), and analyzed the activity patterns elicited by odors and odor blends using calcium imaging.

This work was financed by the Volkswagenstiftung, Nachwuchsgruppe Olfactorische Codierung, VW 1/75 399. The project started in September 2002.
