Current research

I have started to study biology in the first place to find out more about the mechanisms in the human brain. I was fascinated how everything we do, if consciously or unconsciously is controlled in our brain. But during studying biology I found out that there are so many interesting behaviors of animals which we neither can understand nor explain. So my interest changed to understanding animals, not without the influence of my stay on the Galapagos Islands where it was fascinating to watch the behavior of animals who survived almost without any influence of humans and compare them to animals in Germany.

To do research in the department of neurobiology goes far beyond only watching animals, but trying to find an explanation for their behavior and prove this by experimenting. I would like to help to explain the brood-care behavior of ants. For this I am going to measure the coding of ambient temperature in the antenna of Camponotus rufipes.
